Why need to serviced your car regularly?
You should take time to read your owner’s manual before starting the preventative maintenance.
This will allow you to become familiar with your car and learn about the things your car needs to function properly.
These basic car maintenance tips will help guide you when it comes to preventative maintenance:
1. Check your tires
Tire’s life span will increase by making sure that your tire pressure is set to factory specifications. Check your owner’s manual to find out how much tire pressure you should have.
Also check the tire’s tread. Your tire need to be replaced if you can see a solid bar of rubber across the width of the tread.
2. Car battery
There are ways to prevent you from replacing your car’s battery too quickly.
• Be sure to disconnect the cables from the battery before cleaning. Clean the cables with a wire brush and a mixture of one cup water and one tablespoon baking soda.
• Check the connections. If your car comes with a bar that holds the battery down, be sure it’s secure. If the cables are loose, tighten them.
3. Fluids, belts and hoses
Fluids, belts and hoses can be checked easily. All it takes is a quick check under the hood to see if there’s wear and tear on your belts and hoses or if the fluids are low.
4. Brakes
Make sure you have good brakes. There are a number of ways to check your brakes.
• The brakes need to be cleaned or the pads need to be replaced, if your brakes squeal or grind when stopping,
• You may be lacking sufficient hydraulic pressure, if your car pulls to one side when braking.
• You may be low on brake fluid, if the pedal just feels soft when braking. If the pedal goes all the way down, it usually means that the rear brake lining is wearing thin.
5. Windshield wipers
It might be a good time to replace your winshield wipers if they aren’t performing very well. It’s quick and easy to replace them. Look in your owner’s manual to purchase the right blades model.
6. Car maintenance schedule
As a rule of thumb, scheduled maintenance is required at 30,000 miles, 45,000 miles, 60,000 miles and so on. Sticking to your car maintenance schedule will ensure that your vehicle is in proper working condition.
